Importance of a Mom’s Getaway Weekend

Mom Life

The importance of a mom’s getaway weekend | reasons to have a mom getaway

One thing moms rarely think of is themselves. We are constantly giving, giving, giving, and seldom taking. That’s why when something comes up that is solely about YOU, you tend to get hit with some mom guilt. But because you do SO much all day, every day, one of the things you probably need is a mom’s getaway weekend! Guilt-free!

Mom’s Getaway Weekend | Mom Getaway | Mom Guilt | Mom Self-care | Stay at home mom | motherhood | the importance of a mom getaway | new mom | #momlife #stayathomemom #momadvice

A mom’s getaway weekend is so important because it gives you a much-needed perspective, some time to focus on yourself and relax. It also eliminates your stress and in turn, makes you a happy, better mom!

What is a mom’s getaway weekend?

A mom’s getaway weekend is just that- a weekend away. It can be one night, two nights or as long as you like! It can be with your closest girlfriend or mom tribe. It can be somewhere that’s 10 miles from your home or 100 miles away. It can be somewhere that you drive to or fly to.

A mom’s getaway weekend is time FOR you, ABOUT you, with people you love, care about, trust, and who understand you.

Mom Glow Challenge

Let’s talk all about the reason’s you need a mom’s getaway weekend!

The Importance of a Mom’s Getaway Weekend

You get perspective

One thing I know about being a mom is that you can constantly get way too close to situations and tend to lose perspective. Because you are the one that deals with the day to day situations, things can become really complicated and messy. Sometimes you get so caught up in life that you get stumped on making a decision, or you can’t fully commit to doing one thing at a time because you’re so busy.

One of the things that help me get perspective is to go away. Whether I take the day to get away or you plan a mom’s getaway weekend.

A mom’s getaway weekend can help you put things in perspective. It can give you another viewpoint on things and remove you from the situation so you can see things clearly.

Mom needs tome for herself

You get a chance to miss your children

I know this sounds silly but since you are constantly with your family and children you rarely “miss” them. Or at least miss them enough to realllyyyy miss them. When you take a mom’s getaway weekend, you actually MISS your kids! You tend to forget about the hard days, fussy times, attitudes, and meltdowns and just think of your baby in the best possible light.

It’s one of the best and worst feelings in the world tied up into one!

Your spouse gets time with kids

When you give yourself a mom’s getaway weekend, you’re also giving your spouse an opportunity to spend quality time with the kids.

I know my husband sometimes asks me if he can play with our daughter in the room while I am in the living room because he says my daughter gives him no attention when I’m around.

Giving your spouse a chance to bond with your children and connect with them on a deep level is so important. Especially if you are a stay at home mom and home with the kids all day while your husband is working.

Giving your spouse quality time with the kids while you are away is something that is priceless! So, while you are away relaxing, your spouse is taking advantage of his precious time with the kiddies!

Mom's Getaway Weekend

You need space

Another super important reason to have a mom getaway weekend is to give yourself some space. Sometimes you just need SPACE.

You need a second alone to breathe.

You need some time to paint your nails without knowing that in 3 minutes they will be smudged.

You need some time to sit outside and enjoy the weather without worrying about what your kids are wearing.

You need some time to let loose and enjoy a good meal without your baby throwing food on the floor.

— You need time for YOU!

The importance of a mom’s getaway weekend | reasons to have a mom getaway

Relaxation & Rejuvenation

I love mom getaway weekend’s because it gives me time to relax and get rejuvenated. It’s so important to recharge your batteries and get re-energized. It not only makes you a better person but a better mom and wife.

Being relaxed also help you with clearing your head. Which can be SUPER helpful if you need some inspiration or new ideas about something. Maybe you want to redecorate the house or start a new project. Or maybe you’re a work at home mom and need new work ideas and to brainstorm! A mom’s getaway weekend is the perfect time to do this!

Focus on Self Care and Rest

Focus on yourself

You are a mom. You are a wife. You are a superhero. You are a chauffeur. You are a milk machine. You are a caregiver. You are a boss. You are SO much! Most of your day is focused on other people. But going on a mom getaway weekend is time to focus on YOU!

What do you want to do? What do you want to eat? What do you want to watch? What do you want to wear? It’s all about YOU! As a mom, you need time to focus on yourself. You need to make yourself feel good!

Mom Friends | Mom Support

You spend time with great friends!

The great thing about a mom getaway weekend is that you can go alone, or you can get together some friends and get away together! My first mom getaway weekend was with a best friend of mine who wasn’t even a mom but just an amazing friend. We laughed, shared inside jokes, relaxed, and stuffed your face with delicious food!

So, there you have it! Here are 7 really awesome, super convincing reasons why you need a mom’s getaway weekend. Remember, getting away is so important because it gives you time to focus on yourself, get some perspective and gives your spouse time to have some quality time with the kids.

Giving yourself some time away is nothing to feel guilty about because when you better yourself, you are becoming a better mom and wife. Self-care always tends to have a domino effect in the best possible ways!

Inside: Wracking your brain trying to think of the perfect gifts for stay at home moms? Keep reading to find over 25 gift ideas!

Stay at home moms are used to sleepless nights, long days, and spit-up t-shirts. As much as you may want to shower her with gifts, sometimes it’s not the easiest to find the perfect gift.

As a stay at home mom, I know exactly the gifts for stay at home moms that she would love and actually use!

Stay at home moms are busy and selfless so a lot of the gifts they would love to receive are things that would make them focus on self-care, leisure, and things to help them better their household and selves.

Don’t know exactly what to get her- that’s okay! Because here is an entire gift guide dedicated to gifts for stay at home moms!

The important thing about ANY gift is that it’s from the heart. No matter how inexpensive or expensive a gift may be, all that matters is that you put thought, love, and kindness into it. The same goes for any gift you give a stay at home mom.

Body Care Made for Mamas

One of the best gifts you can give a stay at home mom is the gift of rest and relaxation. Something to make her close her eyes and breathe.

My absolute favorite body care is from Babe and Body. These products are specifically made for moms, by moms! They are 100% natural products with organic ingredients specifically created for a mom’s pregnant and postpartum body.

I personally own 4 of their products and I can honestly say these Babe and Body scrubs are the highlight of my evening. Whether I’m taking a bath and using the luxurious body scrub or moisturizing my lips with the decadent lip scrub, their products always make me feel like a million bucks.

Any stay at home mom would love to feel pampered like a princess!

Check out Babe and Body for amazing gifts any mama would love.

Pajamas

Pj’s are always a great gift for stay at home moms because who doesn’t love a great set of pajamas!

You can get her a dress type of pajamas, or a full on 2 piece flannel all cotton PJ set.

Stay at Home Outfit

A lot of people assume that because stay at home moms are “at home” all day that they wear pajamas all day long. Not true! In fact, one of the first things I do in the morning is get dressed. It makes you feel accomplished, even if you don’t plan to leave the house that day.

Because stay at home moms can be in the house all day, especially if you have a little baby, then you want to get her some clothes that she can wear in the house that aren’t pajamas. That way, it helps compartmentalize her day and night.

A stay at home mom outfit can consist of some nice stretchy legging or yoga pants and a sweater or a cotton t-shirt and a flannel button down.

Stay At Home Mom Gift Guide | Gifts for Stay At Home Moms

Robe

A gift that any mom or woman would love to receive is a nice, comfy robe! Robes are especially nice in the cool months to help you keep warm. You can throw it over some pajamas or even over an outfit while you get your kids ready.

A robe like this is really nice!

Massage

Another great gift for stay at home moms is a massage! Who doesn’t love a relaxing massage??

Stay at home moms are constantly busy and thinking of their family instead of themselves so giving a gift of relaxation and comfort is a great option! This also gets her out of the house for some much-needed self-care so it’s a win/win!

Mini purse

Moms have SO MANY things to carry when she goes out.

I decided to switch my regular over the shoulder purse for a mini bookbag purse, that way I can carry the diaper bag on my arm, my baby in the other arm, and push the stroller with my free hands.

Having a mini purse helps me know that I have all of my important documents and items on me without having to lug around a huge purse.

Mani/pedicure

Staying in the same relaxation category, a manicure and pedicure is another fantastic gift for stay at home moms!

Many moms don’t want to spend money on themselves and definitely don’t focus on their nails every second of the day. Between doing dishes, laundry, changing diapers, and cooking- nice nails may be the last thing on her to-do list. Give her the gift of a special manicure and pedicure that she’ll love!

Perfect Gift Ideas for Stay at Home moms

DIY Home spa bath

Relaxation gift #3 (can you see the trend??). You don’t have to give a costly massage or manicure/pedicure- instead, you can give her the gift of a DIY home spa bath. Everyone loves a great, relaxing bath with candles and a comforting aroma.

You can get her some organic bath bombs and some candles or a full DIY spa kit! The options are limitless.

Essential Oil Kit

Essential oils are one of those things that are skyrocketing in trend. You can use them for absolutely everything- from cleaning, to sleeping, to cold remedies, to relaxation.

Giving the gift of an essential oil kit can give her the options to use the oils as she pleases! You can even add some essential oils to her bath spa kit as I mentioned above!

Ready to Make Food Jars

Ready to make food jars is another awesome gift for stay at home moms! A ready to make food jar is one of those mason food jars that has all of the ingredients to a meal or dessert and all you have to do is mix it all together.

The cool thing about this gift is you can make it yourself and any mom would appreciate the thought and effort that you put into it! You can do a jar with cookie ingredients, brownie ingredients, a soup mixture that all she has to do is add stock or water, and so many more!

This gift is great because it’s an easy go-to meal or dessert when she wants to make something quick and easy!

Mom mug

A mom mug is an amazing gift for stay at home moms because it’s fun and is something she can actually use! This is a great gift option for your coffee or tea addict mom friends! (Click the image below to purchase!)

Mom T-shirt

Who doesn’t love a fun t-shirt?? A mom t-shirt is a fun gift for stay at home moms because she can wear it loud and proudly! I always love a good t-shirt that I can throw on with a pair of leggings or jeans with a sweater or jacket.

Stay at home moms are always on the move and comfortability and easy to wear is a must. But we can look cute while on the move! (Click the image below to purchase!)

Coffee

Have a mom friend who is a coffee lover?? Another great gift option for stay at home moms is some of her favorite coffee grounds, beans, or coffee pods. Feel free to get her something that you know she wouldn’t get for herself!

How to easily start planning your family’s gift list

Family Life, Seasonal & Holidays

How to Effortlessly Plan and Accomplish Your Family Christmas Gifts

Inside: Find out the 6 steps to easily accomplishing your family’s gift list!

There is nothing better than the satisfying proud feeling when you get all of your Christmas shopping done!

But this is no easy task, so I wanted to help you ace this Christmas by giving you tips and tricks to effortlessly plan and accomplish your family Christmas gifts and Christmas list!

The key to accomplishing your Christmas List and family Christmas gifts is to start planning what you need to do and get done- such as make your Christmas list, budget, decide on what to gifts to give, where to shop, and to shop smartly.

It may seem like that’s a lot to do but trust me, these tips will help you accomplish ALL of these things in a breeze!

One of the best things you can do to help you accomplish all that you have to get done is to use a Christmas Planner. Luckily, I created an awesome Christmas List & Budget Planner that will help you check everything off of your Christmas “to-do” list easily.

So, let’s get down to it!

How to Effortlessly plan & Accomplish Your Family Christmas Gifts & List

Master Christmas List - Family Christmas Gifts

#1—Make a Christmas list

The first thing you should do is to actually make a Christmas List. This may seem super obvious but a lot of people don’t physically make a list, they just make a mental list and shop based on what they see at the moment.

I used to do this and then didn’t understand why I was failing so hard at Christmas gift-giving and family Christmas gifts. Once I started actually making a list I felt like I was on top of the Christmas mountain!

The goal of a Christmas List is to have all of the people you want/need to get gifts for all in one place. It’s almost like your master sheet. It has everyone’s names so you never have to feel like you are forgetting someone and it also has your gift ideas and even a place for you to set a budget for each person.

It’s the one go-to place for you to track your Christmas gifts and people you want to give gifts too. It’s a lifesaver!

If you want to learn how to make an amazing Christmas List, check out my post “How to Make a Christmas List in 3 Easy Steps”!

#2 — Wishlist

After you make your Christmas List, you’ll want to think of gifts to buy each person on your list. Brainstorm their likes, interests, and needs. This always helps me think of great gifts. I even end up thinking of a few different gift ideas in case I don’t find one then I have a backup idea!

Want to come to with perfect gift ideas?? Check out my post “How to Come Up with Perfect Christmas Gift Ideas”!

Christmas Budget & List

#3 — Decide on a budget

The next important thing to do to accomplish perfect family Christmas gifts is to decide on a budget for your gifts. You can choose to have an overall budget that you work with or break that budget up and have a particular budget for each person on your Christmas list.

You can take their wish list or the gifts that you thought of for each person based on their wants, needs, and likes and come up with a budget that would fit that person!

The great thing about a budget is you can see and track what you are spending. One of the major issues with the holiday season is a lot of people spend SO MUCH money. But if you set a budget, you are more likely to be frugal and shop sales instead of just buying whatever you see.

Another cool thing about a budget is you can decide as a family how much you want your budget to be for each person. That way, everyone is getting the same value of gifts and no one has to feel like their gift stinks compared to a really fancy, expensive gift.

I find that budgets make everything fair.

Christmas List & Budget Planner - Sales & Clearances

#4 – Think of Places to get what is on your list

Now that you have your Christmas List, budget and overall concept of what you want to get each person,  it’s time to actually think of where you can get each of those gifts! Maybe you need to head to a mall that’s a little further away that has all of the stores you need. Or maybe you want to visit an outlet to be able to get all of your gifts on a discount so you can meet your budget.

Sometimes I even make a note next to each person’s name on my list of where I want to shop for them. If I’m making a DIY gift then I’ll write “Hobby Lobby” or “Michaels” next to their name. If I’m getting my husband the latest smart technology then I’ll write “Best Buy” next to his name.

Sometimes I don’t know WHAT I want to get someone but I know WHERE I want to go to find them something. This is perfectly fine to do as well!

P.S. My Christmas Planner has all of the templates you need to help you track sales, clearances and what you want to buy from each store!

How to Effortlessly Plan and Accomplish Your Family Christmas Gifts

#5 — Dedicate a weekend to shopping

Now that you know WHERE you want to shop, it’s time to actually shop! I usually dedicate a full weekend to Christmas shopping, that way I can get it out of the way and I’m not running around frantic a week before Christmas. Black Friday weekend is a great time to get your shopping done because the sale lasts for daaayyysss. You can even shop online and don’t have to leave the comfort of your own home!

I like to get the major Christmas gifts out of the way- like the big toys and larger gift items- all in one shot. If you actually PLAN to go shopping and have a set budget then you’re super likely to accomplish everything that you need to get done!

#6 — Keep an eye open everywhere you go

Another great tip to accomplishing your family Christmas gifts is to keep your eyes open for sales and gifts everywhere you go. You never know when you will see something that you weren’t expecting to see- even at a lower price!

Even if you are at the grocery store or at the dollar store, be on the lookout for things that you know are on your list or you know that you need. Be aware of your surroundings at all times! You have no idea how much money I’ve saved over the years by doing this.

How to Easily Start Planning your Family's Christmas List

#7 — Comb the circulars and coupon sections (Keep your Receipts)

The last and final tip for planning and accomplishing your family Christmas gifts is to go through circulars and coupon sections for different stores. Since you are on a budget and know somewhat what you want to buy each person now you can start searching for those particular gifts.

A great tip is to sign up for emails from the website of the store that has the gift you want. That way you can see what sales they have weekly without having to think much about it. There’s this awesome app called “Flipp” that also has all of the weekly circulars for each store so you don’t have to physically get the paper and flyers!

Also, be sure to keep your receipts too in case you need to return something or price match at a later time!

How to Get a Jump Start on Easy Gift Giving

Seasonal & Holidays

5 Steps Guide to Easy Gift Giving

Inside: Want to accomplish easy family gift-giving this Christmas? Don’t stress! Keep reading to make this your easiest Christmas yet!

Gifts can be homemade with care OR bought with love. It can be homemade and cost $3 or a special gift that your family was always wishing for.

That is why I love Christmas!

Whether it’s a handmade item or a special purchase- I love to see people filled with joy when they open their gift.

I know it can be a little overwhelming to think of Christmas gifts to get everyone so I made this 4-step guide to easy Christmas gift-giving to help you get a jump start on holiday shopping AND stay within budget!

The best way to accomplish easy Christmas gift-giving is to make a list, decide on a budget, focus on great heartfelt gifts, and shop smartly!

It’s super easy and I’ll show you how to achieve great gift-giving from start to finish!

5 Steps to Easy Christmas Gift Giving

Step 1

Write down everyone’s name (lists are your friend!)

The most important step to easy gift-giving is to actually make your Christmas list. Don’t forget to grab the FREE Christmas List Organizer for FREE Christmas List templates!

This list is composed of everyone that you want to get a gift for- whether it’s a handmade gift, a store-bought gift, or just a card. This list will be the master list of EVERYONE who you want to give a gift to. Think of family members, friends, co-workers, neighbors, bosses, and even your secret Santa!

Christmas Gift & Pinecone

Step 2

Decide what you want to get for who is on your list

A major step in gift-giving is actually figuring out what the person would like to receive. Think of their interests, wants, and needs. What’s something that you can get them that they would know that you were thinking of them and that it’s a personal gift.

I wrote a really helpful article about “How to Come Up with Perfect Christmas Gift Ideas”- check it out to help you complete this step!

5 Steps Guide to Easy Gift Giving

Step 3

Decide on how much you want to spend on each person

A huge factor when it comes to easy family gift-giving is the amount of money you want to spend on someone.

I’m a strong believer in budgets so I usually have an overall budget that I want to spend on Christmas and then divided that budget into smaller budgets for each person.

Remember, it’s not the amount of money that you spend on a person that shows them how much you care.

Tip: Decide on what you want to give the person and then think of a budget. I know some people think this is backward but it always helps to figure out what you think the person would like.

Then if you find that your budget doesn’t allow you to purchase something that you know they would like, then you can scale down that gift idea and give them another version of it.

That way, you’re not spending money on something that someone isn’t going to like!

Some families even agree with each other a budget that everyone must follow. That way, no one is spending more or less on the other person!

I even find that some gifts that are DIY are usually a little cheaper so I use the rest of my budget to do something special for the person or add the extra money to save for the next year!

Step 4

Shop smartly

The next step to easy family gift-giving is to shop smartly. This simply means, to be intentional about what you buy and what you need.

So, if you know your husband will love the new watch series, then maybe sign up for certain store updates so you can see when they have sales and deep discounts. O

r if you are planning to make something for each of your family members, try to buy bulk instead of buying all of your supplies individually.

Utilize your Christmas List that you made in Step 1 and try to stick to the list as much as possible. This will help you prevent spending money on things that you really don’t need to buy. And if you find a really good deal on something that isn’t on your list, then either add it to your list as mark it checked or swap out what was on your list for your new find.

Shopping smartly will help you stay on budget AND help you accomplish your gift buying!

Don’t forget to utilize sites like Groupon and always try to price match to save some extra dollars! Many major stores price match Amazon too.

Step 4 to Easy Gift Giving- wrap with love

Step 5

Wrap your gifts with love

In my opinion, a huge part of gift-giving is about presentation!

I’m not talking about spending an absurd amount of money on wrapping paper that’s going to be ripped to shreds in 2.5 seconds.  I’m talking about putting effort and love into your wrapping and gift presentation.

Because you spent so much time and effort making a list of things people would like, going shopping for it, and spending money on things for others, you want the presentation of the gift to reflect that same tone- that you care for the person.

Bonus Step: Grab your Christmas List & Budget Planner!
